2023 Record: 274-284-2 (-13.88 units)
NBA Best Bets Today – March 23
Charlotte Hornets at Atlanta Hawks – 7:30 pm ET
This is simply too many points for the Hawks to be laying right now. Atlanta is coming off a grueling five-game road trip and only had one day to rest after a tough loss in Phoenix. Now the Hawks host a Hornets team that hasn’t played since Tuesday. So, even though Atlanta will be fired up to be getting back home, Charlotte will have all the energy in the world. And this Hawks team is just 1-5 in its last six games. It has been a lifeless group for most of the season, so I don’t see why the Hornets can’t hang around here. Charlotte has lost some of the juice it had right after the deadline, but the talent level between these teams isn’t that different right now.
Bet: Hornets +8.5 (-115 – 2 units)
Boston Celtics at Chicago Bulls – 8:00 pm ET
I didn’t love much with today’s NBA best bets, but I am back on the Bulls for a big meeting with the Celtics. Of course, I’m not thrilled about betting against a wagon like Boston. But the Celtics are just 7-19 against the spread versus teams with win percentages of 40.0 to 49.0% over the last two seasons. They tend to overlook these types of opponents, and you can’t do that with this Bulls team. Chicago is one of the feistiest squads in basketball this year. And this is also the second night of a back-to-back for Boston, so the team could opt to rest some key players here. It’s also big that the Bulls have both Coby White and Alex Caruso back. When those two are playing, along with DeMar DeRozan, Chicago can compete with anyone.
Bet: Bulls +7.5 (-115 – 2 units) & Bulls ML (+235 – 0.5 units)
NBA Player Props Today – March 23
Brooklyn Nets at New York Knicks – 1:00 pm ET
Josh Hart is coming off a rough game against the Denver Nuggets. But that was the final game of a four-game road trip, and it’s never easy facing the defending champs. So, I still feel good about going to Hart with some NBA player props. It’s just hard to overlook that this Nets team is 23rd in the league in rebound rate over the last 15 games. And this team is in the bottom half of the league in adjusted defensive rating this year. So, Hart should be able to fly into the lane and grab some boards with very little resistance. And he’ll also use his superb court vision to make plays against an unorganized defense. Before running into the Nuggets, Hart had gone Over this number in four consecutive games. He did it against the Nets earlier in the year, too.
Bet: Hart Over 15.5 Rebounds + Assists (-118 – 1.5 units)
Added Plays
Portland Trail Blazers +11 (-110 – 2.5 units) vs. Denver Nuggets
